Hunter East Harlem gallery has partnered with the Uptown Triennial to create the UPTOWN ARTIST GROUP PORTRAIT--a public event that invites any self-identifying artist living and/or working in Uptown, Manhattan to present themselves in a large group portrait--organized by Jason Lazarus. The portrait event is a program of Jason Lazarus: In Residence (June 19-September 1) at HEHG.
The goal of the portrait event is to foster exchange amongst the fluid artist communities that comprise Uptown and to create a historical moment for the present and future generations. The community will own the image and the right to reproduce, distribute, and manipulate the image. The image, in full resolution, will be available via free download, by the public, in perpetuity.
The Uptown Artist Group Portrait is organized by Jason Lazarus, is curated by Arden Sherman, Director and Curator, Hunter East Harlem Gallery, Columbia University's Wallach Gallery, and the Marcus Garvey Park Alliance.
Photo Unveiling Reception: Saturday, August 12th at a reception at Hunter East Harlem Gallery at Hunter College.
